Frequently Asked Questions

What To Expect When Working With Avai

Do I need a certain amount of money to work with a financial planner?

No. You don't need a certain net worth or a perfectly organized financial life before talking with Avai. Financial planning starts with understanding where you are today, what's important to you, and what you're working toward.

What can Avai help me with?

Avai works with clients on the different pieces of their financial lives, including cash flow, investments, retirement planning, insurance, estate planning, and navigating financial decisions during major life transitions.

How does Avai charge for her services?

For investment management, fees are generally based on a percentage of the investments being managed, typically around 1% annually.

For insurance products, compensation is based on a predetermined commission paid by the insurance provider.

Avai will explain how she is compensated so you understand the costs associated with any recommendation before moving forward.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Avai believes you should understand what you're paying and how she is compensated. Fees and compensation are discussed openly so you can make an informed decision before proceeding.

What happens during the first conversation?

Your first conversation is about understanding where you are, what’s on your mind, and what you’re hoping to accomplish. It’s also the starting point for the CashFlow Compass™ process, helping Avai understand your financial picture and what may need attention. No pressure, and no need to have everything figured out beforehand.

Do I need to bring anything to my first meeting?

Not necessarily. Your first conversation is about understanding your situation and deciding where to start. If specific documents or information would be helpful for a follow-up meeting, Avai can let you know what to gather.

What is the CashFlow Compass™?

The CashFlow Compass™ is Avai's proprietary financial planning process. It helps clients understand their current financial position, identify what needs attention, explore their options, and determine the next steps toward their goals.

The four-step process — Clarify, Organize, Plan, and Move Forward — is used during initial planning, regular checkpoints, and annual financial reviews.

Can Avai help if I'm already working with another advisor?

Yes. Sometimes you simply want another perspective or a clearer understanding of your current plan. Avai can help you review your situation and ask the questions that matter before you decide what, if anything, needs to change.

Does Avai work with Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans?

Yes. Avai has more than a decade of experience supporting Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, and military families and understands many of the unique financial decisions that can come with military life, release, and retirement.

Are conversations with Avai confidential?

Yes. Your financial situation is personal. Conversations are handled confidentially, and Avai's approach is designed to give you a comfortable, judgement-free place to ask questions and talk openly about what's happening.

How often will we review my financial plan?

Financial planning isn't a one-time event. The CashFlow Compass™ is designed to be revisited through regular checkpoints and annual financial reviews, helping your plan continue to reflect your goals and the changes happening in your life.

Still Have Questions?

Every financial plan starts with a conversation.

You don't need to have everything organized or know exactly what you need. Your first conversation with Avai is an opportunity to ask questions, talk about what's happening, and figure out what comes next.

Confidential. Judgement-free. No pressure.
